Some steps govt can take urgently to boost economy

1) Shift business taxes to residential and improve residential tax collection. Businesses need tax concessions in these trying times
2) Ensure that there is overall development across the state and make sure to protect industrial/commercial lands from conversion to residential
3) Support entrepreneurs in state's "knowledge economy" with tax incentives and regulatory changes. Have targeted tax relief for small businesses.
4) increase affordable housing so employees on low and middle incomes can live in our cities. Crack down on "cash" related black money in Real Estate sector.
5) accelerate planning and development of GIFT, BRTS, Japan Township, Medical Tourism related projects
6) Make tough budget choices and manage expenses prudently
7) Compare various municipalities and identify areas of overspending. Eliminate "departmental silos" and empower staff to find cost savings.
8) Have a single stop business registration center in Ahmedabad that facilitates business registration and provides all information on government schemes, incentives, etc.
9) Encourage angel investment in state for young entrepreneurs
10) Encourage environmental friendly initiatives
